Berry Ggood Recipes a local fund raising cookbook from Redding, CA. Remember that people from all over the country came to Redding CA to build Shasta Dam, between 1937-1945, as a result there are probably family recipes from all over the country. I was amazed to find some of my mid-western family favorites that I've never seen in any other recipe book: my mother's (and my) favorite “Cinnamon Sugared Walnuts” recipe is on page 57 just in case you want to try it; page 4 has Yum-Yum Salad, a favorite of my favorite auntie, although she took out the marshmallows and added 2 C grated carrots, try it her way, sounds strange but OMG is it good. Then, as a bonus, the book includes a recipe for “Impossible Cherry Pie” hand written, by a former owner, on a card and tucked into the desserts section. The adventurous cook will love this book. From the title I expected an abundance of berry recipes, but there aren't many. There are the standard cookbook sections There is a Helpful Cooking Hints section at the back which includes calorie counts for common foods, substitutions, “food quantities for one week”, cuts of meat, and kind a neat section called “Leaves, Weeds & Other Good Things” that provides hints about the kinds of spices and seasonings that add a finishing touch to various foods.
